A Year Ago Today

Think back to this date a year ago. Where were you? Are you a different kind of person than you were then? What have you learned since then?

A year ago today I was in Mallorca, Spain, after three months of traveling across the British Isles. Since then, my brother's been married, I've graduated from college and found a job and am heading into the future. Funny to think that a year ago, I had no idea where I'd be in a year, and now, I'm in the same boat.

It's 6am

It's an awkward time to be,
at 6am,
when one hasn't slept all night.
There is a decision to make
and the teeter-totter creeks in the breeze,
knowing full well that
a mind should have been made
hours ago.
It is a awkward time to be,
for most people this time is either a dream
or scratch across a bleary room.
But one sits there considering that they should be there,
not here.
The stomach aches for food,
the eyes for sleep.
Yet it's 6am,
and who can tell where the fulcrum will fall.
For now the totter could teeter each way.
Today is a brand new day.
It's 6am.

Silence

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows
in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.
